Everything you need to know about practicing your visa interview
Getting Started
Click "New Interview" or "Start Practice" from any page. You'll select your visa type (B1/B2, F-1, H-1B, etc.), fill in your profile details, and then speak directly with our AI consular officer. The whole setup takes about 2 minutes before your practice interview begins.
Yes, a free account is required. This allows us to save your progress, track improvement over multiple sessions, and keep your practice history. Registration takes 30 seconds — just enter your email or sign in with Google.
Just a computer or phone with a working microphone. Most laptops and phones have built-in microphones that work perfectly. For best results, use headphones to reduce echo and find a quiet room. No special software needed — everything runs in your browser.
Practice interviews typically last 5-15 minutes, similar to real consulate interviews. Tourist visa (B1/B2) sessions are shorter (5-7 min), while complex cases like F-1 student or K-1 fiancé visas take longer (10-18 min). You can end the interview early if needed.
We support Google Chrome (recommended), Safari, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox. For the best voice quality and lowest latency, use Chrome on desktop. Make sure your browser is updated to the latest version and has microphone permissions enabled.
Interview Practice
Very realistic. Our AI is trained on thousands of real interview questions and consular officer behaviors. It responds in under 1 second, asks follow-up questions based on your answers, catches contradictions, and challenges weak responses — just like a real officer would. The pressure you feel is intentional preparation for the real thing.
We currently support 8 visa scenarios: B1/B2 (tourist/business), F-1 (student), H-1B (work), L-1 (intracompany transfer), K-1 (fiancé), B1 (business visitor), J-1 (exchange), and Reapplication After Refusal. Free users can access B1/B2 tourist scenarios; paid plans unlock all visa types.
Yes, absolutely. The AI listens to your answers and asks relevant follow-up questions — "You mentioned your cousin lives in Texas. What does she do there?" or "Your bank balance seems high. When was this deposited?" This adaptive questioning mimics how real officers probe for inconsistencies or weak ties.
Questions vary by visa type but cover key areas officers actually assess: purpose of visit, ties to home country, financial ability, travel history, and family connections. Expect questions like "Why this university?", "Who pays for your trip?", "What will you do after graduation?", and potentially trick questions designed to catch inconsistencies.
You can end an interview early at any time. If you get disconnected, you can resume within 24 hours from where you left off. However, we recommend completing sessions without pausing — real interviews don't have pause buttons, and practicing under continuous pressure builds confidence.
After each session, you'll receive detailed feedback highlighting weaknesses and specific recommendations. Read the transcript to see exactly where you hesitated or contradicted yourself. Practice the same scenario multiple times — most users see significant improvement after 3-5 sessions on the same visa type.
Yes! We have a dedicated "Reapplication After Refusal" scenario specifically for this. The AI will ask tough questions about your previous denial, what has changed since then, and why your new application should be approved. This is our most challenging scenario (difficulty level 5) and excellent preparation for reapplicants.
Feedback & Evaluation
You receive a comprehensive evaluation including: an overall score (0-100), breakdown by category (clarity, confidence, preparedness, English proficiency, persuasiveness), your top 3 strengths, top 3 areas to improve, specific actionable recommendations, a mock approval/denial decision with reasoning, and a full transcript of the conversation.
Your score is based on five weighted categories: Clarity (pronunciation, pace, volume), Confidence (tone, pauses, filler words), Preparedness (correct answers, knowledge of details), English Proficiency (grammar, vocabulary), and Persuasiveness (convincing argument, strong ties demonstrated). Scores below 60 are red, 60-80 yellow, above 80 green.
Yes, every session includes a complete text transcript of the conversation — both your answers and the AI officer's questions. This lets you review exactly what you said, identify filler words ("um", "like"), spot where you hesitated, and see how you handled difficult questions. Pro and Premium users can export transcripts as PDF.
Most users feel confident after 5-10 sessions. We recommend starting 1-2 weeks before your actual interview to have time for improvement. Begin with 2-3 sessions to identify weaknesses, then focus subsequent sessions on your problem areas. Users who practiced 10+ times report feeling significantly more prepared and less anxious.
Yes! Paid plans include progress tracking that shows your scores over time, improvements in each category, and a "Ready/Not Ready" indicator based on your recent performance. You can see all your past interviews in the sidebar and compare how you've improved from your first session to your most recent.

Technical & Privacy
Yes. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We don't share your personal information or interview content with third parties. Your practice sessions are private to your account. We use industry-standard security practices and your data is stored on secure servers. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.
Voice audio is processed in real-time to generate responses and transcripts, then immediately deleted — we don't store raw audio files. Only the text transcript is saved to your account for your review. This protects your privacy while still letting you see what you said during practice.
Yes, the platform works on mobile browsers (Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android). However, we recommend using a laptop or desktop for best experience — larger screen makes reading feedback easier, and laptop microphones typically provide better audio quality. If using mobile, use headphones for clearer voice capture.
